EASA Poznań 2026 Anthropology: Possibilities in a Polarised World

Between 21-24 July 2026, Dorota Woroniecka-Krzyżanowska and Aleksandra Wojtaszek participated in the EASA 2026 Conference Anthropology: Possibilities in a Polarised World. 

During the conference, Dorota presented a research paper “Reconstruction as a modality of infrastructural powe: Baghdad after the 1991 Gulf War,” with short abstract The paper approaches reconstruction as a distinct modality of infrastructural power, using post-Gulf War Baghdad as a case study. Based on interviews and fieldwork, its shifts analysis from state narratives to the lived experiences of Iraqi experts involved in the reconstruction campaign.

Aleksandra presented a research paper “Domes against the void: Innovation and antifragility in Iraqi practice under sanctions,” with short abstract Creativity, adaptability, and tradition-driven innovation under international sanctions in Baghdad. During periods of material scarcity, a prototype affordable housing emerged as a crisis response, yet became obsolete once economic conditions shifted.
